Enrolment Procedure for Non-EU Students

When to enrol

Non-EU citizens who are not resident in Italy, shall enrol with the University of Teramo in accordance with the timetable annually issued by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research.

What to do

Here follows the step-by-step procedure necessary to enrol with the University of Teramo:

 

 

 
Pre-enrolment application
Submit the provided pre-enrolment application (Form A) http://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/moduli/2018/FORM_A.pdf through the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of origin and apply for a student visa for "Application to Italian Universities". Once completed such pre-enrolment procedure, an entry student visa for "Application to Italian Universities" shall be issued.
Italian Language Test
The Italian Language Test is mandatory.
Residence permit
Apply within 8 days from the arrival in Italy a residence permit.

Enrolment procedures in 1st-Cycle Degree Programmes and Single-Cycle Degree Programmes

Each candidate needs to contact the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of originand, in order to validate his/her own qualifications and pre-enrolment, submit the following:

  1. The provided pre-enrolment application (Form A), duly completed and signed;
  2. The final original certificate of secondary school studies;
  3. If entrance exams are laid down to enter university in the country of origin, the certificate proving that the candidate has passed any academic tests;
  4. If the secondary school diploma has been obtained in less than 12 years of education, or if a candidate applies for a shortened programme: the University transcript of records detailing the exams passed and grades, or a post-secondary qualification issued by a non-university higher education institute. Only if a candidate applies for a shortened programme, the transcript of records needs to include the official syllabus for each course;
  5. Any certificates of his/her own language skills;
  6. Two passport photos (one of them needs to be authenticated by the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of origin).

 

Each candidate needs to obtain from the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of origin the following documents:

  1. A legalised translation of both the high school diploma and any other academic and post-secondary certificates;
  2. The Declaration of Value – a document which provides information about the Educational System in the country of origin and compares the qualification level with the Italian Educational System;
  3. An authenticated passport photo.
 

Enrolment procedure in 2nd-Cycle Degree Programmes

Each candidate needs to contact the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of originand, in order to validate his/her own qualifications and pre-enrolment, submit the following:

  1. The provided pre-enrolment application (Form A), duly completed and signed;
  1. Study diploma achieved at a foreign University equivalent to an Italian 1st-Cycle/Bachelor’s Degree Diploma, or a post-secondary school diploma achieved at a non-University higher education institute which allows further education at an upper level – only whether the high school diploma would be achieved after at least 12 years.
  2. The transcript of records – issued by the University and duly confirmed by the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of origin – detailing the exams passed and grades, the official syllabus for each course, the amount of hours of all the learning activities completed in order to obtain the foreign academic qualification as given in the previous point;
  3. Any certificates of his/her own language skills;
  4. Two passport photos (one of them needs to be authenticated by the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of origin).

 

Each candidate needs to obtain from the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of origin the following documents:

  1. A legalised translation of both the high school diploma and any other academic and post-secondary certificates;

Highlights

  • Qualifications and certificates written in a foreign language need to be submitted along with an officially-legalised translation into Italian (candidates may get their own documents translated by official translators at the Italian Diplomatic Missions in the country of origin in order to obtain the declaration of “certified translation”).
 

Italian Language Test for Admission to Degree Programmes

On their arrival in Italy, non-EU candidates who are resident abroad need to sit an Italian language test in order to be admitted to the University they have chosen. Such test is mandatory to enrol in any degree programme – apart from those candidates already holding a certificate of Italian language proficiency with a level not lower than B2, in accordance with the Council of Europe guidelines and in the framework of the CLIQ system (“Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità”) shared by the current certification authorities (i.e. the University for Foreigners in Perugia and Siena, the University of Roma Tre and the “Dante Alighieri” Society), also in agreement with the Italian Institutes of Culture abroad and other institutions. Such certificates of proficiency in Italian language may be achieved in the authorised examination centres in one’s own country of origin.

 

Who is exempted from Italian language test and from the quota for international students

Non-EU students resident abroad candidating for 1st-Cycle Degree Programmes and Single-Cycle Degree Programmes are exempted from the Italian language test and may enrol in addition to the specific quota of reserved places for non-EU students resident abroad, if they hold the following certificates:

  1. a 5-year or 4-year high school diploma obtained from both state and officially-recognised Italian schools abroad;
  2. a supplementary certificate attached to the secondary school diploma achieved in Argentina certifying that the study programme included Italian language teaching for at least 5 years, under the Law no. 210 dated June 7, 1999 (issued on the Italian Official Journal no. 152, June 1, 1999) – which ratifies the Agreement with Argentina dated December 13, 1997 and entered into force on December 28, 1999;
  3. the Italian Language and Culture Diploma awarded by the Universities for Foreigners in Perugia and Siena;
  4. certificates of Italian language proficiency corresponding to levels C1 and C2 of the Council of Europe, issued within the CLIQ system (Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità) and shared by the current certification authorities (i.e. the University of Roma Tre, the Universities for Foreigners in Perugia or Siena, and the “Dante Alighieri” Society), also in agreement with the Italian Institutes of Culture abroad and other institutions.
